Hey Dad is kicking my butt. I think I will have to do a guide track and then put down the guitar and vocal following that. This has too many stop and starts to be able to plan out like this. I keep wanting to play ahead of where the vocal is, so I keep losing my place.

I'll do a quick guide and then move onto something else. I want a couple good guitar tracks by the end of the day here.

That's why i decided i really need to record guitar and vocal simultaneously. Then again, i'm not trying to record anything anyone else will ever hear. I'm trying to capture performances and learn from them, so a single mic and suboptimal fidelity works.

I need the separation for the final mix. The problem is that the mike that is good for vocals sounds terrible on the guitar. Very tinny and high end. So if I get bleed that way mixing is going to be pure hell.

I can do it fine this way, just another step to deal with.

I'm learning more every time I set up the gear though.
