Today seems to have a Marx Brothers theme. Steven asked me some Marx questions in email and he posted about what is your least favorite Marx Brothers Movie.

So, what is your favorite ... and why ???

For me it's Monkey Business. I love the manic energy of it.

I love A Night at the Opera. It seems to be the most developed story and it seems to have honed the characters and standard story the best.

But I also love Animal Crackers.

If I ever could travel in time, one thing I'd want to do is go back and see those maniacs perform live. I bet it would be amazingly funny.

Ironic subject line given that half a second before I read it, I posted that Monkey Business is one of the two most overrated Marx Brothers films.

Favorite depends on the mood. Ignoring the big three (Duck Soup, A Night at the Opera, and A Day at the Races), I'd probably say Horsefeathers. The word play is good and there are several memorable sequences and it doesn't suffer from the overexposure of the big three or Animal Crackers.

A Night at the Opera was the first of theirs that i saw :) First clip (stateroom scene), first harp solo, and first whole movie. Combine that with a pretty decent story, and it tends to jump right into that "first" slot in my heart :) That said, i do just _love_ the energy level in Monkey Business :) Great fun!

A Night at the Opera or A day at the races. They both always make me smile :)
