ericcolemanOk, I cleaned up the guitar on my break this morning.
It sounds much better with new strings and pretty much as I expected.
There is a certain sort of 60s cheap guitar cheesiness that is actually a very cool sound.
The action is a little squirrely and I might want to put lighter strings on it (and the intonation is a little off, but the bridge is adjustable, which is pretty darn amazing for a guitar like this).
It's a Stella guitar made by Harmony, 3/4 size and generally a pretty cool little instrument.
On the bad news front. At Duckon two people from JVL-CON asked me to attend. I had told them no at the time since I thought that the convention was between OVFF and Windycon. This weekend my management team (aka my wife and my father-in-law) decided I needed to attend. I sent them email ... before I checked the official calendar here at work. It is the same weekend as OVFF. So I can't go after all. I'm bummed, sent a letter of apology and hope that I didn't offend them too much.
I feel like such a gerbil sometimes.
