There was this band called the Radio Stars, a nifty little power pop band that I dearly loved. I am about halfway through a tribute site for them that I will get up on the web someday.

Anyway, I wanted to learn one of their songs so I went the the main guys website and sent him email.

He sent me the chords

Then went to my webpage and signed my guestbook.

Cool

Except for the lucky few that the recording industry picks to be big stars, most musicians are cool people who make music because they love/want/need to, and they get little enough recognition that they're usually pretty happy when somebody lets them know they like their stuff.

(The ones who are big stars often start out the same, but they have so many people clamoring for their attention that they have to become less responsive at best or be buried. I say often, because these days it seems like more and more of the people that get picked to be big stars are such fakes that they never really cared about their music at all before they started having money and fame thrown at them.)

Anyway, my point (I actually had one? Wow!) was that it's not a big surprise that a musician (not a big star) would respond favorably. Which isn't to say that it isn't cool, but rather, that it is cool to support musicians you like.
