Tomorrow I go see the cardiologist. I am thinking it should be good news, since he hasn't contacted me yet. We'll see.
An electric trike miraculously appeared at my house a week ago. It needs a puncture fixed, but I should be able to take my first rides on it this weekend.
I now have a Cpap. It was just a matter of time. It's been a struggle. There is an awful scent that seems to be part of it, although it is fading slowly. Last night was the first night I kept it on for 8 hours. The previous record was about 5. A couple nights it was only 2. For me a lot of it is in my head. I think about my breathing, and I can't get to sleep. So I will lay there for several hours, occasionally dozing. If I can get my mind focused elsewhere, I can get to sleep, as I did last night. It's a process.
Lizzie and I have both been home since Friday evening, and it has been lovely. We went to the Good Guys car show Saturday. It was in the first year or so of our marriage, we had stayed at Xap's up in northern Illinois. As we were leaving, we were going to make a run over to the lake and spend a half hour out on the beach. When we came to the turn to go there, we both saw a car lot across the way. They were having a classic car day. I hear from the passenger seat "OOOOOOOOH".
I have learned something new about my wife.
Turns out that she is a classic car fanatic. So we have gone to a lot of car nights at various locations in DSM.
We went to Good Guys last year, and I think it will be a yearly thing for us. Every possible place on the Iowa State Fairgrounds has a car parked in it. It's amazing.
On an aside, we found out that the model railway place I took all of my kids to closed last year. The owner passed, and his family decided that without him there was no real point. It was more than any of them could deal with, and the place was so much him. I am going to miss the place terribly.
I had taken Ian when he was about 5. We spent 4 or 5 hours there. I took Jared and Reilly as they got old enough, and Ian loved being big brother and showing them his favorite parts.
As we wandered around the fairgrounds, we found a building that said it was part of the Central Iowa Model Railroad Club. It's a gorgeous layout, and hopefully we will take the young miss at the end of the month, so a family tradition will continue.
I asked for Filk tapes on the show, and a couple members of the community took that as a dare. I'm guessing there are about a 100 tapes in my basement studio at the moment. Lizzie and I are going to catalog them today. I ripped 5 yesterday. I will rarely do that many at one time in the future. The tapes I did yesterday were some real treasures, including a home made tape, which there are only a few copies of.
So things are pretty good. My brain is clearer, I am guessing mostly because of the Cpap. Now if I can get on the trike some, my life should be better.
More soon.

Date: 2023-07-04 05:03 pm (UTC)There were some who wouldn't bring theirs though because we ahad to touch them, and some owners didn't like that part. But it was still fun tolearn about the cars and the stories/histories behind them. Many had been in the family for generations.

Date: 2023-07-05 05:44 pm (UTC)If you are like me, once the hind-brain figures out that you feel a lot better if you sleep with the CPAP, falling asleep with it won't be an issue. Anyway, I hope that's true for you, it was sure true for me.
My Angel loves old cars too. I find most things fascinating, so we have fun when we go to one. And I make sure to point out odd cars on the street when I'm driving too.

Date: 2023-07-10 03:05 am (UTC)That's a lot of tapes to go through. Good luck! And yeah, don't do too many at a time; audio fatigue is a thing. (We digitized tapes we couldn't replace any other way a while back, and we had to spread that out over a lot of time.)
The "Christmas in China" song on this week's show was powerful. Wow.
