I've been watching Farscape, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] alymid. If it was in print or at a reasonable price I'D BUY IT !!! ... ahem ... sorry ... I get carried away. The prices for it out there are just plain silly.

And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dement1a I have been able to watch the last season of BSG ... wow, what an ending.

I'm not sure what I am working my way through next. I do have the Babylon 5 sets ...

I'm glad I bought the Farscape sets when I did. I bought each of the Starburst editions -- 3 per season -- for $15-20 apiece.

I am slowly collecting and viewing all versions of the Alice in Wonderland story. If you would be interested in borrowing those, you certainly may.

If you have an all-region DVD player, try importing Farscape from Australia - it's very popular and easy to find there. With some help from an Aussie friend, I got the 3 seasons I was missing plus an all-region player for under the $100 that the US wants for one box set.

Babylon 5 is phenomenal but very, very dated in terms of FX and visual look/feel. If you can get past that and the EXTREMELY stilted dialogue, the story is great. It was a huge influence on my life and beliefs when I watched it during its original run and is seriously one of the things that made me who I am today.

DON'T watch the pilot or the movies first - save those for later. Start with episode 1 of season 1, "Midnight On The Firing Line." Forecast is about a season's worth of general boredom with occasional bright spots, with sustained awesome from seasons 2-4 and part of 5.

The Mount Prospect Library has all of Farscape on the shelves. Several copies of some seasons.

Have you tried a library or netflix? i mean, you'd have to give them back, but you could still watch it.

Might I recommend the Sarah Connor Chronicles? It's a living show, and there's not that much to wade through (a season and half so far). I've been real damn impressed with it so far. As a plus, Bear McCreary (BSG music composer) does the music for SCC, too.

I got seasons 1,2,&4 on Ebay (a co-worker snagged them for me, at $40 off per boxed set). Season 3, I got the Starburst edition, and I snagged PKW at Best Buy.

yeah, saw them for $125 at Best Buy, hence the use of E-Bay by the co-worker- $85 each set
