Date: 2008-11-24 07:28 pm (UTC)I think I have six of the second list.
In fairness to me, I have a lot of songs from albums on both lists in various Greatest Hits collections.
Re: Rundgren
Date: 2008-11-24 07:50 pm (UTC)Technically his stuff is sensational, but I've always found him bland and unconvincing. One of the most important things for me is believing the musician, and he has always struck me as kind of a fraud. A brilliant fraud perhaps, but still a fraud.

Date: 2008-11-24 07:50 pm (UTC)Awesome.
And i just finished re-reading Good Omens which has the most wonderful exchange:
"What's a Velvet Underground?"
"You wouldn't like it."
"Oh. Beebop."
"If you were to ask probably 100 people to describe modern music, none of them would use that term?"
(or to that effect, i don't have the book here at my desk)
The notion of Velvet Underground being beebop gives me the giggles.
