It's nice that it'll still be in the family. I feel silly for becoming attached to a car, but that doesn't mean I don't feel it. About 20 years ago I wrecked my Accord (which was a different car then than what bears that nameplate today) -- and I'm living proof that seatbelts save lives -- when I reached into the upside-down car to take out the keys, and accidentally started it, and it turned right on like nothing had happened, I felt really bad that I was abandoning it. But the state the car was in before the accident, and the body damage it had sustained, meant that it was unquestionably totalled. It probably would have cost $10K to fix, and it was only worth $2K at the time.
I'm supposed to be finding a replacement for my Matrix now, and I don't like thinking about it.
