For your security, PayPal will never ask you to enter your credit or debit card number without providing you at least the LAST TWO DIGITS of know the number. These digits let you know the we already know the full number and are asking you for the rest of it.

Gee, ya think they're getting scammed? or their customers are getting scammed? Not that I've gotten PERFECT replicas of very reasonable-and-authentic looking pay-pal warnings and requests at email accounts that have never been used at paypal mind you...

That's scary...it ALMOST makes sense, especially if you don't read carefully. Kind of makes me glad that I'm one of those paranoid folks who NEVER answer e-mails requesting info. After all, just because you're paranoid......

Dear PayPal,

Thank you so much for your attempt to remind me of my credit card number. However, I have two that end in the same digits you provided and the remaining account numbers are very similar. Can you please send me the entire credit card number, along with expiration date and my full name as it appears on the card for me to verify?

I do have to admit that I do tend to go to these sorts of sites, and sign in in wildly obscene ways. This right after I send the link to the real site's scam help address.

99 out of 50, if you get an email requesting such info, it's a scam ...

When you get these kind of things, forward them to spoof@paypal.com. Similarly, spoof@ebay.com. I get two or three of a day.
