Had a good set tonight. Did two songs, Hey Dad and WYSIWYG.

There was a bunch of folks talking. The MC tried to get them to quiet down. They didnt. I started the show. I did a little patter, started Hey Dad. They all turned around when Istarted singing. By the end of the first chorus they were gone. I riffed on the idea of making the other side of the room leave too. It didnt work. A good time tonight.

So how was your day?

My day sucked less than yesterday. Which is all we have a right to ask for in this life, i suppose.

Played the Riverview open mic tonight... "Living with Ghosts" (Patty Griffin song), "Winter Song", and "Goin' back to Texas (to get my heart out of pawn)", by my friend Jamie from Super Happy Fun Machine. That one was amusing... the song is so clearly from a woman to a man, it doesn't gender-bend worth shit. It doesn't have an amusing effect as man-to-man, and the role of the subject doesn't work if the subject becomes a woman. So i told everyone to just pretend i was a girl for the course of the song. I love it, though. The first time i heard that song i thought it was too obnoxiously cheesy-country. Then it got stuck in my head for two straight days...

My day was kinda crappy, thanks, but I did get to spend a few minutes watching The Lake. And I found a source for PG Tips tea that's actually in Wisconsin, not Illinois. It's left me chattier than usual for LJ, which isn't a bad thing at all.

I'm not sure that I could clear rooms (fully or partially) with my singing. Some things are better left untried.
