ericcoleman: Cheshire Moon (Cheshire Moon)
Those who know me know that I suffer from a bad case of imposter syndrome. Apparently fandom is ganging up on that syndrome and doing it's best to kick it's butt. Damn thing shouldn't have worn a cape.

OVFF was a marvel. We met new people, saw new people play. Hung out with dear friends. Made new dear friends. I feel that I missed out talking to a lot of people I wanted to talk to, and for that I apologize. I was in kind of a blur all weekend.

Some highlights for me. And I will forget some.

Xap wrote our bio. She left one, very important thing, out.

SHE NAMED THE BAND !!! This thing about friends helping ... that was her!

Traveling to and from with the amazing Fallon. New friend #1!

A trip to music stores, and coming home with a nifty box cello for Lizzie!

Random Fractions tearing the roof off during the Pegasus Awards Concert.

Lauren Cox showing us how ... it's ... done at the Pegasus Awards Concert. One of the best moments of music at a con, ever, for me.

Heather, Nathan and Will at the Other Worldly filk. Oh I am looking for great things from all of you.

Bill Laubenheimer at the Other Worldly filk for totally blindsiding me ... with a song that I knew ... I will have my revenge.

Kat Sharp utterly destroying me not once, but twice with that amazing choral piece!

The oddest Getting Ready For Your First Show workshop we have done. Focus was ... odd ...

Now that I have seen Rob Wynne's concert ... Rob Wynne's concert! Killer stuff.

I didn't get to see enough of Julia West's concert, but what I saw was wonderful.

Wreck The System wrecking the crowd! I warned several people, that they were about to have themselves rocked right down to the floor. When I'm right, I'm right!

And our set. We got to do something I have wanted to do for years now, play with a full band. In the moment, it was really difficult. I felt kinda terrible right after the show. I got better quickly. I think it worked really well. I have now skimmed through some video, and I think that even more now. That pesky imposter syndrome again.

Thank you Barry, Sally, Leslie, Betsey, and Dr Mary. You made it possible for us to realize a dream. We want that full band now, more than ever. Maybe someday.

The Pegasus Awards. I had several strong preferences this year, some of whom won. In the cases where someone else won, I was all for it. It was a rough year, so much talent. And so much talent whose day will come. I am so proud to be a part of this community, surrounded by so many amazing musicians and songwriters and performers. And the food was pretty good too.

I got to be a judge for the Song Writing Contest. Wow was that fun! Rob & Ally and me! We agreed on nearly everything. We agreed there were no bad songs. A couple of them didn't fit the parameters of the contest, but they were all still great songs. I'm happy that the three I liked best won, but a couple others could have slipped in there easily.

Then the Interfilk auction, where I wasn't really bidding on anything, then a song in the circle, then I coyoted the wall.

Sunday, I got to mostly hang out and watch stuff.

Beth Kinderman & The Player Characters put on what may be the best show I have seen them do ... and I have seen them a lot.

Andrea Dale was stunning, absolutely stunning.

The Farewell Jam I felt a little lost in, I need to get some more stuff drumwise, I feel better at the jam if I am doing something with drums.

The Dead Dog was wonderful. We played some songs. We heard some songs. Robin June Nakula showed me a nifty instrument with the most difficult tuning pegs I have ever seen.

And then we went back up to the room. And it was, for all practical purposes, over. It's hard going back to real life after a weekend like this. It makes me want to be playing music a lot more. I wish we could.

Now the thanks, and I will forget people.

Gabrielle Gold for all her attention before the con.
Doug Cottrill for the same.
The two of you made it so easy getting ready for our weekend.

Mark Peters and the rest of the OVFF sound crew! I know we are in good hands when I see this crew. I want to be that good at running sound someday.

Mary Bertke for a simple email last year.

Linn, for such a marvelous con. Too much of the time the con chair gets the blame, and not the well deserved credit. You put on an amazing con!

And finally, everyone at the con. The feeling of family is so important, to us, to all of us.

Before, we were amazed that it was going to happen, now we're amazed that it did happen.

Thank you for making us a part of this. We can never express how much it meant to us.
