A 100 years or so ago (or maybe 15) I lived in the Chicago area. Since the advent of that wonderful Tool Against Terrorism (TAT) the Patriot Act, all of the states are slowly getting their information together, so they can track down someone like me ... who had some parking tickets 15 years ago.

I can't get my drivers license updated with my new address. So I call the number in Springfield, who tell me that I have to call this number in Oak Park. I call this number in Oak Park who tell me that they have no record of me having any parking tickets (we did most certainly have parking tickets) but that they can't release it, since they have no record of it.

So ... it boils down to ... they have no record of me having any parking tickets, but they can't release it till I can prove that they don't have an record of me having any parking tickets.

Plus, the woman in Oak Park says that they didn't suspend licenses for parking violations until about 4 years ago ... 11 years after I would have gotten these tickets ... that they have no record of ...

Somewhere Douglas Adams is going "that is just way too complicated"

So I no longer have any tickets, proved or otherwise ...
