Back in the dim dark recesses of my memory there was this band. The Hollowmen (not the brit dance-y band) were it in Iowa at a certain time. Various problems made it so they never got out of Iowa enough to build the following they needed to continue. I saw them in Chicago a few times, and they always blew the audience away, and then wouldn't come back for months. They split right at the end of the 80s. Most of them still play music but I think that none of them ever quite reached the heights that this band reached.
One of the singers, Tom Armstrong recently put together 3 CDs of all their recorded songs. I had most of it already, but none on CD since I hadn't gotten around to burning the LPs and tapes to CD myself.
The first two CDs are all stuff I had in one form or another, but the 3rd CD has at least 6 tracks (out of 12) that I am very glad to add to my collection.
Oh, as an aside, the other singer, Mike Sangster, is the other guy in that picture of my synth band ... back before he played guitar.
