I suppose I have to write something about my sunday night sets ... I go to an open mike every sunday night to work out new stuff ... refine old stuff ... and to sometimes play stuff that I dont really know ...

I was sick sunday but I went anyway ... my bronchitis was pretty bad ... and I had an upset stomach ... plus the guy before me didnt show so Pete told me to get up there ... with no warm up ...

I started by asking for requests ... most of the folks there know me now so they know my stuff .. someone asked me for Beethoven's 9th ... I came back with "I'm in the wrong tuning .. sorry" (not as funny as the guy who yelled "you're an animal" to which I snapped back "we're all animals dude")

A couple of the regulars asked for Crank Generation ... a REAL hard song to do without warming up ... the vocal is no problem ... but it is hard to play that fervently first song out ... but I did a good job ... and it quieted down the room ... it tends to do that ... being the rude slice of life that it is ... it went better than it has in ages ... I'll comment on spaces in songs and such in a moment ...

I asked for the next request and someone yelled "RAMONES" ... I asked them if they were being wise-asses or if they had seen me before but they didnt reply ... no fun ... no one wants to play with me ... I do Rockaway Beach as a sort of slow blues/country shuffle ... and got a great response ...

Low Self Esteem was third ... and I ended with Product Might Be Hot complete with new McDonalds verse ...

I'm finding new spaces in songs all the time ... it's been fun to find myself relaxed enough to stop a song for punctuation ... Low Self Esteem in particular had tons of room for the jokes between verses ...

Overall it was one of the most relaxed sets I have ever played ...
