I read about him while doing research for my novel (set in turn of the century San Francisco). What a character.

It's great ... he got 1000s of people to live in his reality ... my favorite story ... getting arrested ... and the judge admonishing the officer about it ...

I love Harpo Speaks. He and Zeppo (maybe Gummo) were the really happy ones, I think. Harpo's on my short list of Dream People I'd Love to Have Dinner With. (With Michael Palin, Steve Page, and John Lennon)

Harpo is one of my major heroes ... and that is one of those books that I turn to for inspiration a lot ... his attitude on life was amazing ... (the book that I go to when I want inspiration on writing is Prick Up Your Ears ... it's grim .. but Orton's love of his craft is infectious)

Zeppo seemed happy ... but if you read his interviews in The Marx Bros Scrapbook he became very bitter ... sad really ... in his later years he refused to talk about his brothers at all ... I suppose it does make sense ... he had quite a career as an agent for many many years ... it must be galling to have your successes overlooked on the basis of something that you stopped doing in your 20s ...

I would love to spend an evening with Harpo ... Alexander Woollcott (I would highly recommend Howard Tiechman's book about him ... Smart Aleck ... if you are interested I'll look and see if I have an extra copy) ... Dorothy Parker (who I have a major posthumous crush on ... of course a little of it might have to do with Jennifer Jason Leigh playing her in the movie ... I love them method actresses) and various others from the Round Table ... but especially those three ...
