Hmmm

What is a movie that you dearly loved, and that you watched again and that just doesn't hold up now?

Some of the 80s horror stuff just doesn't hold up, particularly The Lost Boys and An American Werewolf In London. I watched both of those not too long ago, and they're a bore now.

Actually, An American Werewolf in London has gone full circle for me. :)

It was a favorite of my dad's, but I didn't get the jokes, so for a long time I didn't like it (and the one part where he changes to a werewolf was Too Scary). Then, I was old enough to get the jokes and found it really quite enjoyable. I haven't seen it in a few years, but the last time I saw it, it was waning on the interest scale.

I'ma go with Top Gun, with the notable exception of the volleyball scene. That never gets old. (But I can play that in my head without hafting to sit through the whole movie, so that's okay.)

Oh, I *adored* the Lost Boys when I was a teen! I haven't dared see it since. I a still like some of the songs on the soundtrack, though.

As a kid, I thought the Transformers animated full-length movie was the BEST movie of all time, and now I'm like, OMG, how did I even sit through it?

Almost anything with pre-1980s special effects. I too easily get caught up in the craft of film-making and ignore the movie.

Stripes. I still like the first half, but the second half should just get thrown out.

I sat and watched The Never Ending Story with the kids not long ago, and it was almost painful to watch. And yet, the kids liked it.

I rarely rewatch movies, but Netflix has made it easy and widescreen tv has made it worthwhile. So I have my 20 Year Rule (a rule of thumb, not a hard and fast demarcation).

Of the movies I've seen since joining Netflix several years ago, the one that suffered the most was Amarcord. As a teen, I loved Fellini. As a curmudgeon, less so. I still enjoyed it, but it was knocked off my Favorites list.

Any soft core porn I watched as a teenager.
