The Most Important Question Of The Day

[Poll #1207926]

If you aren't reading it (and if you aren't, you should) then you wouldn't know that [livejournal.com profile] lio_comic just finished a series of strips about Calvin and Hobbes, which made me think of this.

Bloom County was brilliant in it's time, and because I lived in that time I can go back and read them again and get the jokes.

Calvin & Hobbes was brilliant.

I think the actual dichotomy would be Bloom County or Doonesbury, both of which are political in nature.

Calvin and Hobbes isn't political, but nostalgic in nature, which is why it stands up so well. Of course, Doonesbury stands up better than Bloom County.

I disagree. I think a lot of Bloom County (not all of which was political) stands up quite well indeed.

I agree. I've gotten a better understanding of American history in the early 70s from Doonesbury strips than any class I've taken.

Bloom County all the way. For some reason Calvin & Hobbes never spoke to me.

I love them both, and I think I used to love Bloom County more. Unfortunately, Berke Breathed's recent stuff has somewhat soured me to Bloom County, so I voted Calvin & Hobbes.

But IMO Far Side beats them both.

Bloom County wasn't bad---but it's dated in a lot of ways. Calvin and Hobbes is timeless, like the best of Peanuts.

I am counting Bloom County, not the rest of the Outlandish stuff he did.
