May I make my fond excuses for the lateness of the hour

I thought this week would be fun, but it seems that either everyone I know has forgotten how to read (unlikely, one or two perhaps, but everyone?) or I was completely unclear.

The theme has been guessed as movies with robots in them, so the second part of your guess must be a robot from that movie.

Here are the rules.

Answer only one quote.

If you answer more than one I will delete your reply. If there are quotes still not answered the next day I will open it up to any and all guesses.

Most weeks there is a theme. If there is not a theme I will tell you. The theme is open to guess even if you have guessed a quote.

There is a theme this week, and you can blame [livejournal.com profile] shsilver for it

The Theme has been guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bammba_m, it is Robot Movies (a little different than [livejournal.com profile] shsilver's idea, but close enough

Don't use a search engine (like this can be enforced). If you don't know, you don't know. Maybe next week you will.

You must either be signed into LJ, or say who you are (in case you are a friend of mine who is not on LJ). All anonymous answers will be deleted (hey, I'm obsessive, I want to know who guesses these). Oh, and don't guess as a reply to someone else's guess, on a busy day that makes it hard for me to spot your answer.

You must guess the name of the movie AND an example of the theme in your guess.

01 I need guidance, Great One. For the first time in my life, I am not sure. [livejournal.com profile] selensue says this is from Robot Monster, and [livejournal.com profile] filkertom steps up and tells us the robot's name is Ro-Man
02 You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? [livejournal.com profile] noise626 says this is from Alien, and one of the robots in question is Ash (Yeah, I count androids, they're a subset of robots)
03 I'm impatient with stupidity. My people have learned to live without it. [livejournal.com profile] jcw_da_dmg says this is from The Day The Earth Stood Still, and one of the robots in question is Gort
04 When a black mountain appears above the clouds, a monster will arrive and try to destroy the world. The ancient prophecy is coming true. [livejournal.com profile] polyfrog says this is from Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, and one of the robots in question is Mechagodzilla
05 Contact us today, or see your travel agent. Boy, have we got a vacation for you. [livejournal.com profile] eeknight says this is from Westworld, and being [livejournal.com profile] eeknight his guess on the robots are the hot sexbots. I feel that I should give him extra credit
06 No way those guys can outfight us without a 10-to-1 margin. [livejournal.com profile] controuble says this is from Battlestar Galactica, and the robots in question areThe Cylons
07 I used to always wonder what you were thinking at that moment.. [livejournal.com profile] the2wittybird says this is from Terminator, and one of the robots in question is, of course, The Terminator
08 Not very sporting to fire on an unarmed opponent. I thought you were supposed to be good. [livejournal.com profile] mplsfish says this is from Blade Runner, and one of the robots in question is Roy Batty, but I also would have accepted Pris, Leon Kowalski or Zhora
09 There's 215 bones in the human body. That's one. [livejournal.com profile] controuble says this is from Terminator 2, and one of the robots in question is The Terminator
10 There can be no understanding between the hand and the brain unless the heart acts as mediator. [livejournal.com profile] filkertom says this is from Metropolis, and one of the robots in question is Maria (although Futura might have been more accurate)
11 I'm not arresting you anymore. [livejournal.com profile] bammba_m says this is from Robocop, and one of the robots in question is Robocop (although ED-209 might have been more accurate)
12 I am a realist and I need you, so I'm going to be generous. I'm going to let you go without a bit of trouble, and with lots of cash.. [livejournal.com profile] tcgtrf is willing to admit that he knows this is from King Kong Escapes, and the robot in question is Mecha-Kong, please give him your sympathy

theme guess

robot movies?

#9 again

[identity profile] controuble.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Terminator 2

The robot is the terminator himself.

[identity profile] bammba-m.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
11 robocop

robot movies

the robocop is a robot-oid who goes against his programming

(can i just say this is REALLY confusing???)

[identity profile] controuble.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
And as someone who has had an anatomy course, he was incorrect - there are 206 bones in the human body.

[identity profile] the2wittybird.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
yea but in the movie, 'he' was a 'she'. that was sarah connor's line, not ahnold's, right after she whacked the shrink';s arm for trying to use a phone to call for help

"an example of the theme in your guess" is a little vague, but here goes:

#5 Westword> is the name of the movie and every man's fantasy - hot sexbots is an example of the theme's use in the movie.

[identity profile] noise626.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
#2 is Alien

And its the human Ash after he is revealed to be a droid Ash as he explains how utter fubar the crew is :)

#1 is from METROPOLIS, the seminal sci-fi feature with a hot robot Maria, posing as a human for some of the film.

My userpic may not make sense but that was the only one I had with a mechanical man.

[identity profile] bibliofile.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
As usual, I know that some of the lines sound familiar but cannot place them on my own. In contrast, at least I'm reading them before they've all been guessed.

I've actually SEEN some of the movies for a change! It's hard (for me) not to like movies with robots in 'em.

ETA: D'oh! I should've known THAT one.

Nope, I'm sorry, #10 is from Metropolis. "How do you solve a problem like Maria...?"

Sorry - GORT!

I believe #8 is Blade runner. The replicant is Roy.

4 is from Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. I watched that just a few weeks ago.

(and of course the subject is Mechagodzilla)

[identity profile] the2wittybird.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
#7: The original Terminator. THe line is spoken by Kyle Reese, not the actual robot in the movie: the Governator himself. but there are a number of other robots in the movie, turned on in the factory to distract the terminator at the end. ;)

#1 is Robot Monster and, uh, Robot Monster. ;-)

Battlestar Galactica - isn't TV movie cheating???

Cylon for the robot

Number 12 is an absolutely awful Japanese movie called "King Kong Escapes" from the late-60s. I'm not sure if it's a sequel to the movie with Mechi-godzilla in it, but the robot in this one is called Mecha-Kong.
