Double points this week

I revised the hint a little, it was unclear ... see the bold below. I would also like to point out that nobody has guessed an example of the theme, so there are still answers available. If you have guessed a movie, you can still guess an example of the theme.

Here are the rules.

Answer only one quote.

If you answer more than one I will delete your reply. If there are quotes still not answered the next day I will open it up to any and all guesses.

Most weeks there is a theme. If there is not a theme I will tell you. The theme is open to guess even if you have guessed a quote.

The theme has been answered by [livejournal.com profile] fredhuggins. The theme this week is movies with Spaceships

There are two answers to most of the questions this week, the movie that the quote is from, and an example of the theme. Each of these movies has an object in common, give me the name of that object. If that makes sense. ONE of these does not have a name that I could find. If you can name that particular one, I will give you a special prize ... really.

Don't use a search engine (like this can be enforced). If you don't know, you don't know. Maybe next week you will.

You must either be signed into LJ, or say who you are (in case you are a friend of mine who is not on LJ). All anonymous answers will be deleted (hey, I'm obsessive, I want to know who guesses these)

01 Did you hear something back there that sounds like there's something back there? In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] pheltzer say this is from Space Truckers. This is The Ship With No Name
02 Alert all commands. Calculate every possible destination along their last known trajectory. In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] bathtubnz say this is from The Empire Strikes Back, the Ship is The Millenium Falcon, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] naomikritzer
03 Half of writing history is hiding the truth. In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] bobolium say this is from Serenity, which is also the name of the Ship
04 Bring back life form. Priority One. All other priorities rescinded. In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] rsmit212 say this is from Alien, the Ship is The Nostromo guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bathtubnz
05 A mere speck? Texas a mere speck? In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] exapno say this is from Rocketship X-M, which is title AND ship (there are two of those this week)
06 I bet she gives great helmet. In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] fredhuggins say this is from Spaceballs, the Ship is The Spaceball One, but I also would have accepted The Eagle 5
07 I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do. In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] controuble say this is from 2001: A Space Odyssey
08 You know nothing. Hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse. In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] noise626_m say this is from Event Horizon, but [livejournal.com profile] mike46 says that it is the name of the ship as well
09 I'm a doctor, not a space explorer. In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] bammba_m say this is from Lost In Space. The Ship is the Jupiter 2, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] wildcard9
10 Rubbish, we don't want to be happy, we want to be famous! In outer space no one can hear [livejournal.com profile] tony_goldmark say this is from The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, and the Ship is The Heart Of Gold

No clue on the theme, but 6 is Spaceballs. Is the object, in that case, a helmet?

[identity profile] bathtubnz.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
06 is Space Balls. Is the theme 'ships' or 'commanders' something like that?

[identity profile] bathtubnz.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
doh too slow, then 2 is Empire Strikes back I think.

10 is from the 2005 "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" movie. The object? I dunno, the Guide itself?

Yeah - one I've seen

[identity profile] controuble.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
#7 - 2001 A Space Odyssey

[identity profile] fredhuggins.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmmm... is the object for 6 Lone Star's pendant thing?

Is the theme "things you carry with you in space"?

[identity profile] rsmit212.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
4 is Alien. Is the object a moon?

[identity profile] tanac.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
common object = space ship? (so easy, and yet)

#8 is Event Horizon..

[identity profile] noise626.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
..a darn spooky little flick actually :)

[identity profile] tony-goldmark.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
The spaceship from 10 is the Heart of Gold.

[personal profile] naomikritzer 2007-08-27 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know which movie it is, but the object in #9 is surely the Enterprise.

Whoops, I answered two. But I'm answering objects, not quotes. Can they each count for half? :-)

[identity profile] bobolium.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
#3 serenity I think?

[identity profile] bobolium.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Was going for the movie - Would take both, but really isn't fair...
xap: celtic circle (harpotext - properly executed honk)

[personal profile] xap 2007-08-27 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
#5 (title) = Rocketship X-M
are we supposed to try for both for a particular question? or one-answer-limit is one total, or one of each, or i'm just thoroughly confused (on this issue - we all know i am on Life in general *grin*)

[identity profile] controuble.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Is HAL the name of the ship or just the computer in #7? I don't remember any other names, just Dave and HAL.

Oh i know!!!

[identity profile] bammba-m.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
#9: Lost in Space!!

i don't remember a name for the ship.

[identity profile] mike46.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
#8 is from Event Horizon, which is also the name of the ship. A nice sci-fi horror flick.

[identity profile] pheltzer.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I know the movie for #1... it's Space Truckers... just can't recall if it was Dennis Hopper's character who said it or not. And I'll be damned if I remember the character name... John something or other.

[identity profile] pheltzer.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Would help if I read more carefully... you're looking for the ship name... as far as I can tell the truck didn't have a name... I could probably come up with a model number, but that would require google which is against the rules.

Sneaking in here: the ship's name in number 9 is the Jupiter 2 (if it wasn't guessed already, it is not listed as of this post)

[identity profile] wyngarde.livejournal.com 2007-08-28 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Damn. I'm sorry I missed this one...
