Some random (and not so random) thoughts

I don't understand that whole "concrete milkshake" thing. If it is thick enough that you can't eat it ... it's ICE CREAM !!!

If I had wanted something that I had to eat with a spoon, I would have asked for something I have to eat with a spoon. I'm driving and I want something I can drink with a FRIGGIN STRAW not something that I could knock out burglars with.

Sorry you had to see that ... my apologies.

I am heading to Chicago this weekend for various entertainments. Amongst those, I may go to the Faire. I am in a position where I could actually buy stuff, like garb. So ... if I were to do that, how should I dress myself? Both serious and serious answers are welcome (like I can expect anyone on my friends list to not make jokes). Keep in mind that I was a theater major (and lived with a costumer for 17 years), so I can understand names for most styles and eras.

Just remember the wise words of [livejournal.com profile] akitrom, regarding Fest music... "You can play anything you want as long as you're dressed like a pirate".

If I were to suggest anything (and if you have enough free cash for it), I would suggest wandering by Felix Needleworthy's shop on Shoplatch lane and see what they would suggest.

But don't do it unless you can afford dry cleaning bills.

Fair(e) enough. (Sorry - forgot this isn't [livejournal.com profile] puns!) Those of us who frequently perform at RenFaires need something more washable and durable - oh, yes, and waddable!

you won't be around when I am at your house ... but you expect me to take you places.

that's how i roll, yo. i must answer the call of the booty. (yarr) :) if i'm not back at the house by the time you need to leave (which seems unlikely...opening is at 10, and we're like 20 minutes away, and i'm pretty sure i'll get home well before then), then leave without me and i'll either try to meet up with you there, or see you later in the day elsewhere.

Going to Faire? Well, they'll tie you up, and tie you down... Er... I'm sure they can fit you into a nice doublet or jerkin. :) I'm not sure how you'd look in a bodice, and besides, LGBT day was last weekend, I think... :P

Yeah, what [livejournal.com profile] salexa said, Felix has the best stuff. Costly though, but very much worth it. Pendragon has leather stuff. Muscovy is good stuff too, cheaper than Felix, and still acceptable. I've seen very little at Four Winds or Heart's Delight, unless you want REALLY cheap stuff, and/ or fun stuff, and don't give a rat's ass about whether or not it's period.

Um, wish I could give you some free tickets or something. I could get you some coupons, if we meet up ahead of time, and the website always has some sort of deals.

I'll be wandering around. Are you going for one day or two? Which days?

I think the garb thing depends on what you want to do with it:
Wear it the next time you go to faire?
Wear it at cons?
Wear it as stage costume for concerts?

Those might change the type and or style of gear you end up getting.

Be a minstrel, of course!
