stretching the con budget to do a third con this year (Congenial) so only that / conquest / and contra. might do the kc one as a day visit if I find out more about it

I saw the web site, but it dosen't list who is invovled - I'm curious because I live just outside kansas city and have never heard of it.

I'm not sure what you mean by a list of who is involved? The guests are stated. The group putting this together is CRG, as noted here: http://daranacon.org/whatis.html

Most of our members live/work in the KC area. I myself am out in PA, but will be back and forth as we prepare for Daranacon (as a matter of fact, I just yesterday got confirmation of my flight for next month :))

Usually I hear of such things at Conquest or thru KcSFFS (the kansas city science fiction club) or folks I know thru there. but usually if something is on year four I would expect to have heard about it.

Daranacon, in the past, has been held in smaller venues for a much smaller group - primarily CRG, the group sponsoring it. It has been in NYC, Rockvale, IL and Indianapolis.

This is the first year we are opening it up to a larger group, hosting guests and formal panels.

Hey Eric, I don't want to step on the toes of you or Gary Hanak, but do you think it would be possible for me to perform at Duranacon? I have been searching for a Kansas City convention I could make it to for the past 2 years or more, and this finally seems to be one that would work for me. BUT, I don't want to steal any of Gary's thunder (or yours), so please let me know what you think. If my own concert isn't possible or appropriate, maybe I could MC and/or perform at the Masq, and/or get a table in the dealer room, and/or do a "Dr. Demento Show" panel since his show is on in KC on 99.7 KY. This would also give me a potential chance to set up a show for myself at Comedy City (formerly ComedySportz) where I was an improv performer for 8 years.

Kind of expensive for one day and so much depends on the kind of day the boy is having.

I am at Tillies the 17, and may be in town the whole weekend ... we'll see though, the friend that I stay with may have an influx of parents that weekend
