I can't begin to say how this hurts.

RIP Buddy Blue

I suppose that when Country Dick died, it was a shock, but not unexpected. Buddy though ...

His weekly Blue Journalism email was always a delight. We exchanged emails occasionally as one raving music fan to another. We disagreed sometimes, but it was always fun.

The Farmers (The original Beat Farmers w/o Country Dick) disc that came out last year was great. Buddy's solo stuff was amazing. He was a powerful musician, a blast as a music critic and just a very cool guy.

I got to see the Beat Farmers at a little bar in Colorado Springs in 95. He was, shall we say, a tad inebriated. Then again, so was everybody at the bar. They still put on an astonishing show. Afterwards, I got autographs from Rollie, Jerry, Joey and Country Dick in my little Beat Farmers Almanac...and Dick hugged me :) When he died, there was a silence in my heart....

Buddy will be missed :)

Oh yeah, I know. I got into him through his other work (specifically Guttersnipes 'n' Zealots) not with BF, as I didn't get into them until 93 :)
