My two favorite ska memories:

[a] Back to the Beach

(1) The final track on Mephiskapheles album "God Loves Satan."

"Why-o why-o why-o did I leave Ohio?"

Would you like me to make you a list? :)

You don't have the option of suicide...

2nd favorite album = Legend. Mr. Marley was taken too soon.

I'm not at all sure that I can answer.

I'd have to go with "both" on this one. With some CJ (see-jay?) thrown in. Yeah, definitely both.

If by "ska" you mean the real Jamaican 1960-66-ish ska, not the hyperfast 90s ska...begat by bluebeat and begatting reggae...horns on the offbeats, etc...

the Birth of a Legend disc comprising all the old Studio One stuff is a must listen.

I think of reggae as being more "authentic" but I just LIKE ska better.

That's a hard one... I like what I've heard of ska, I think if I knew it better I'd like it as much as or more than reggae.

I do NOW . . . back in the day I never paid that much attention to it . . .

Still one of my favorite surreal scenes.
