It wouldn't do for a Bond film, for one, the plot is too coherent....someone might almost think the Director had been reading one of Ian Fleming's books.
Willie Donaldson once called Fleming 'The writer of the James Bond adventure books for children'*. But Willie Donaldson was a god (of a particular kind).
