You are of course correct. Ironically, it was because I was looking at the IMDB page to make sure I had the title right that I screwed it up; the UK title was "The Scarlet Buccaneer..."
And for some reason, that's one of the few movies that I can always show to film buffs (and people in film school) that they have never seen. Don't know why.
There was a period, about when we were in HS, when it was very popular. I think it has not aged well. It does feature two of my all time favorite actors though (the other being the late and much missed Alan Bates)
When I was VP and Head Projectionist of the International Film Group, the fourth and smallest of the major film groups at Albany State, we showed King of Hearts at least once a year. This was in the mid-70s, and I haven't seen it since. Even at the time it seemed a bit dated, I think because it was so WWI specific. But that didn't stop it from being beautiful and very moving.
