Maybe You Should Try The Analog Entry Device
I should have posted this last night, but it slipped my mind. I was just reminded of it......
I did a bit of shopping yesterday afternoon at Woden Plaza. As I was on my way back to my car, I was approached by a rather flustered-looking woman who had parked nearby. She said that she was having trouble getting into her car, because the battery in her push-button keyless entry unit had gone flat. Keep in mind that I had never seen this woman before, and she had no idea what sort of person I was.....she actually asked me if I could break into her car for her.
Rather than even trying that, I asked her for her key ring, which she handed over without batting an eyelid (again, she really had no idea who she was giving it to). After about half a nanosecond, I realised that her car key was on the key ring, next to the keyless entry unit. I put the key into the door lock, unlocked the car for her, handed her the key ring and walked back to my car, trying my best not to laugh. I figure she was embarrassed enough already (or if not, she should have been).
Cars can be lethal weapons in the wrong hands, but only if you're smart enough to know how to get into them in the first place.
But It's A Flat 85 Miles
There is this guy I know, he's a sports geek. Hopelessly (and I do mean hopelessly) macho and is constantly trying to live a youth that apparantly he never had.
He has decided to do 2 days of RAGBRAI (the Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa, 300 some miles of pure bliss) this year. The first day he is riding is 85 miles. On a bicycle. Something he hasn't been on much in probably 20 years. The title of this is his comment. I really want to see him on his first 3 mile 5% grade. Sure it LOOKS flat. The things that amuse me most about this ...
A- He thinks he will make it the entire distance both days with NO problems, and no riding gear (although I think he did break down and buy riding shorts, he was going to do it in regular shorts and underwear ... and it's raining today, if you have never ridden bikes much more than your average ride to school etc, you have no idea of the level of pain possible from that combination)
2 - He pretty much refused to listen to the experienced riders (there are 3 mountain bikers here and I was a pretty serious road biker 20 some years ago)
