Our thanks to Tom Jeffers for getting this video. It's just the songs (and is missing a bit of the first song). It was a good show, we had a blast. FKO was so much fun this year. We're so sorry we're going to miss OVFF this year. Yeah, no more cons until Capricon. Anyway, here is what we played.

Widows Garden
Witch In Your Story
Stream Of Consciousness
Snow White, Red Road
Masters Of Library Science

Finally, some comments.

I had not heard Pug & Shaya. Lovely stuff. I missed a bit because I was pacing in the hall, since we went on right after. I need to hear more.

I love playing music with Lizzie. It's even better when the audience is so with us the entire way. Thank you for listening.

Heather was brilliant as always. I can't begin to say how big of an influence she has been on us. She played some of my favorites and a couple of songs I had not heard her do in the past. And, they will be at our house next month!

We hung out with some friends for a bit and then crashed. The trip up took a lot out of us.

I had never seen Gary do an entire show, and it's about time I did. Fun, charming, silly, serious. Even if he had those two rather disreputable folks backing him up near the end. Geeze, what sort of person would play with them?

Piers blew me away. I wish we lived in the same country. He and Lizzie and I would be so annoying!

Copy Red Leader. Ok, I am a rock guy, I think that is obvious. I love it when there are rock bands in filk. These folks are one of the best. I want more music!

s00j. We worked out that we have known each other for 8 years now. We met at Spirit Awakening end of March 2006. I have seen her so many times and she continues to amaze me.

We got some downtime and then went and spent some money at the Interfilk Auction.

The highlight of the circle for me was playing Roman Wall Blues with Jason and gundo (yeah, when they play with me it's cool, elsewhere it's disreputable). I can't begin to say how much I miss playing music with them.

Oh, a quick aside. Karen Linsley. Oh my … the song about the Ent and the Whomping Willow broke me. The song she did in circle that night … yeah, that too. I think I have a new favorite fannish songwriter.

Lizzie sang with nearly everyone, she's like that. She and Piers were harmony sluts together!

We crashed out again fairly early, 1am or so.

I only saw the person who won the songwriting contest. I can't think of her name, but her song, about Biology, was marvelous.

The Hall Of Fame concert was great. As always, I stole lots of ideas from Moonwulf's guitar playing. Oh, and I have a Toyboat arrangement for one of his songs. I still do that.

We had dinner with a bunch of folks and then came back for the Dead Penguin. Played some music, listened to a lot of music. And had to get to bed at a reasonable time.

14 and a half hours in the car. 850ish miles. We returned home to berserk kitties, who may forgive us someday, and our own bed. It is so good to be home, but we still miss all of the music, all of the people. Thank you for sharing this weekend with us. Thank you for making us so welcome.

I have looked at schedules, tried to juggle things and one thing has become apparent to me. I will not be at FKO this year. WSPA-2 has his state gymnastics meet that Saturday and I won't miss that.

I'll get back there someday ... really.

I will not be going to OVFF this year. Drake Theatre is having a reunion that weekend ... of course it would be that weekend.

It is still possible I will be going to FKO, but I'm thinking money will not allow it.

So it looks like no filk cons this year.

Toyboat's trip to FKO ... or
You drove HOW FAR ??? )

The usual disclaimer, I forget things. If you did not get mentioned here, and feel that you should, mock me, abuse me, point at me and call me abstract things. I deserve it.

Starts in a few minutes. Time for the drive back to Iowa.

Usual disclaimers apply

We rolled into Joliet about 20 minutes ago. The roads were as expected, snowy and rough for much of the last half of MI, but better once we got to the bottom of the lake. Almost exactly 12 hours ... Bedtime now, and then the last part of the trip for me tomorrow, hopefully after the roads have cleared a bit.

It was an amazing weekend, thank you so much to everyone who made it possible.

More FKO

We got off the stage about an hour ago ... one word ...

FUN !!!

We played
Bold Marauder
This Island Earth
Banned From Argo
Sunset Boulevard
Son Of A Witch

There were some technical glitches (mine) but we stormed through the set like we may have actually done this before.

Once again I want to thank the Concom for inviting us to play. I also want to thank all the folks who helped us out. The sound folks worked so hard (I need to get some LJ names). The staff were very nice and let a very tired bunch of musicians lock their gear away in the mainstage room so we can tear down tomorrow after we get some sleep.

And this is just the beginning of the weekend ... more fun is coming.

Here ...

See some of you soon

The second part of Toyboat: A Canadian ODDyssey starts now

The van is about loaded, and we are about to head out to pick up traveling companions.

Canada ... you might want to leave the country

The first part of Toyboat: A Canadian ODDyssey starts now

I'm heading out to Joliet in a couple of minutes.

Standard "someone call me I'm driving and bored" requests stand.

Let me just quote from the email

"FilKONtario is pleased to offer you a half-hour concert Friday night"

Toyboat is going to Canada !!!

Frankly none of us quite know what to say except ... thanks. We are SO there !!!
